Show Us Your Money!

The Community Pitch with Bendigo Bank.

On the 26th October ten organisations got together for an event at hosted by Bendigo Bank Turramurra and Lindfield Branches called The Community Pitch.  It was a heady night with twenty three Pitch Partners attending to add their financial support to the evening, which already had a significant amount of cash pledged by Bendigo Bank Turramurra and Lindfield branches.

Sharon Franke, Community Development Manager of Bendigo Bank said, “Community Pitch 2022 was a fantastic night!  I think everyone enjoyed listening to the pitches and learning more about 10 of the wonderful organisations in our community – the Easy Care Gardening team wowed us during their 3 minutes on stage.  We were blown away by the incredible generosity of our local businesses, together with the community bank’s donation of $26,000, we were able to give away $56,000 to the 10 charities pitching on the night.

The event was attended by about 120 people, including Jeff Pettett, Mayor of Ku-ring-gai Council, the Honourable Philip Ruddock, Mayor of Hornsby Shire, and the Master of Ceremonies was Hornsby Shire Councillor Sallianne McClelland, dressed to extract more funds with her special ‘giving hat’!

Easy Care Gardening was pitching for a mulcher, and other tools, with CEO Leanne Babic and volunteer Marie Clarke leading the charge with their 3 minute pitch, and Management Committee member Ian Woolcott and Coralie Jensen, Volunteer Manager, also attended.  Time afterwards as allocated to meet and greet each other, and convince those Pitch Partners to give generously. At the end of the evening $4300 had been donated to their cause.

Sharon Franke stated “We love that because of those donations initiatives such as Easy Care Gardening’s mulcher purchase will be achieved – with enough left over to replace some of the diesel powered tools with more environmentally friendly battery operated versions making the volunteers lives a little easier.

Volunteer Marie Clarke reflected on “the kindness of strangers donating to Easycare Gardening, plus the acknowledgement of the essential service we provide to keep our elderly and infirm neighbours safely in their own homes.  It was interesting to hear about other local groups and the support they provide to the community”, adding that it was “a unique opportunity to play a small part in publicising the volunteering role and service benefits we play within Easycare Gardening as volunteers. Wonderful be called upon to be part of the team “pitching” our contribution to the community and play a small role in drumming up financial support”.

Easy Care Gardening would like to thank these organisations for ‘showing us the money’!
