From Friday 1st – Saturday 23rd March Easy Care Gardening will be welcoming submissions from current volunteers and clients who wish to register how they spent 60+ minutes towards making a positive impact for our community and our planet. Bring someone new to the garden to volunteer for 60+ minutes or spend 60+ minutes collecting brown waste for compost. You could also show us what you did to pass the time during Earth Hour as you switch off your electricity.

The first 100 volunteers and clients to make a submission will receive a $20 Coles voucher. Additionally, anyone who signs on a new ECG volunteer will receive a $30 Coles voucher and the most creative submission will receive a $100* Coles gift voucher.

To participate register the details of your 60+ minutes of activity by clicking the link in bio. #EarthHour #savetheplanet #communityinitiative 🌎

Composting at home is a great way to use the things in your refrigerator that are a little past their prime, which helps reduce food waste. You can also compost certain kinds of yard waste rather than send them to the dump. Collect these materials to start off your compost pile right:
* Fruit and vegetable scraps
* Coffee grounds
* Eggshells (though they can take a while to break down)
* Grass and plant clippings
* Shredded newspaper

Never add meat scraps, dairy, cheese, fats/oils, pet waste, or chemically treated wood. These items either cause unpleasant odors or could contain harmful diseases or chemicals.

Mulch! The most underrated element of our gardens. Nearly everything in your garden will benefit from regular applications of mulch, which acts as a blanket for your soil, keeping it cool and moist in the summer heat. This wonderful organic matter can reduce the amount of water that evaporates from your soil by up to 70%! It also breaks up clay and allows better water and air movement through the soil. It also reduces weeds that can compete for water, light and space and reduces weed-seed germination making it easier to pull out weeds. #WaterWise #SustainableGarden 🌿 ...

We extend a heartfelt thank you to the millions of volunteers across Australia, especially our Easy Care Gardening Volunteers. We appreciate the impact you are making in communities and your passion for making a difference.
Your dedication inspires every one of us to contemplate how we can each play a part in this important journey of building stronger, more resilient and connected communities 🙏 #volunteer #community
